Queen Elizabeth I, 1533 - 1603
Made using fairtrade 18 carat yellow and white gold, and designed by Yasmin Everley, this ring has been inspired by one of Britain's much loved historical queens. Queen Elizabeth I, also known as the Virgin Queen, was a ruler by heir rather than marriage. She was the daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn and succeeded her sister Mary I to the throne upon her death in 1558. Elizabeth was a fair ruler to her people who helped to create the Church of England, a Protestant church that allowed some of the Catholic traditions to continue. Throughout her life, Elizabeth refused to marry, insisting she was married to her country. She was a much loved monarch who instilled a feeling of stability to her country and died aged 69 after 44 years on the throne.
This 18 carat gold ring has been designed with a very simple rub-over setting in white gold, reminiscent of the simplicity of Protestant beliefs, and a simplistic delicate band in yellow gold. The open setting at the back of the stones allows lots of light to shine through the three diamonds, set in a trilogy style. This particular choice was made as three stone and oval designs were very popular during Elizabethan times.
The Queen rings were all handmade in our workshop from fairtrade gold using lost wax casting, and hallmarked by the London Assay Office. Please read our Jewellery Care guide to make sure your piece of jewellery lasts for many years!
