From Yasmin Everley's Astrology collection, the pendant takes the form of a circle, which the Ancient Greeks considered the most geometrically perfect shape. It holds a cluster of the stars, accurately forming the constellation, which is held suspended in space by delicate wire. The chain is a rope chain, reminiscent of both the sailors who have used these stars to navigate through the centuries and our coiling strands of DNA. This pendant usually comes in bright polished silver but also looks great in oxidised silver if you prefer.
In the Ancient Greek tale, when Heracles was sent to destroy the Hydra, Hera attempted to thwart his attempt by sending a crab to attack his feet. Heracles crushed the crab to death and Hera, in gratitude for the creature’s efforts, honoured the crab by placing it in the stars.
