Celebrating Living Wage week & Joy Everley’s ethical pledge as a business #provenancepledge

This week we are celebrating!

As a proud member of the London Living Wage Foundation we are celebrating this week to highlight London Living Wage awareness. The living wage is an ‘organisation  at the heart of the independent movement of businesses and people that campaign for the  idea that a hard day’s work deserves a fair day’s pay.  We celebrate and recognise the leadership of responsible employers who choose to go further and pay a real Living Wage based on the cost of living, not just the government minimum’.

Joy Everley has been a loyal member since 2015. We love our staff and believe in being ethical and honest, that is why we have also been behind the #imadeyourjewellery movement.

Earlier this year, Joy travelled to Thailand and visited our workshop. She has created a special relationship with the skilled workers over the past 22 years who play a crucial role in making Joy’s designs come to life!

This is Pron. She carefully prepares our silver jewellery for gold plating.

This is Kik. She skilfully fills our rubber moulds with wax as part of the lost wax process to make our jewellery.

This is Rat. She is the settings operator which means she places the stones in our jewellery pieces with her very steady hands.

Another movement that Joy Everley is joining is the Fair Luxury campaign #provenancepledge #imworkingonit. This campaign encourages businesses to move toward a more ethical and sustainable way of thinking and doing business. It encourages not only the consumers to think before they purchase but the business too.

We are very proud of our Fairtrade collection. Our Fairtrade gold is sourced from the Sotrami mine in the Atacama Desert in Peru where miners receive a fair wage and work fair hours.  Read more about our Fairtrade gold jewellery.

We also have a collection of ecologically Sustainable Engagement Rings are made from 100% recycled materials. Each ring features a beautiful recycled diamond taken from a vintage treasure, reworked into its own unique design and set in recycled gold. Using pre-mined diamonds which already exist in circulation helps to strike an ecological balance by avoiding the depletion of natural materials.
